While Looking for your Lost Card, use the Y App or a Paper Copy:

The Y app has a digital copy of your ID card. Please visit http://home.byu.edu/mobileSuite/getIt.htm for more Y app information.

Cougar Cash and Meal Plan Access: The app ID or paper copy of your BYU ID card will allow you to access your meal plan or Cougar Cash at most dining service locations, the BYU Store (3rd floor accounts desk only), and Print & Copy Centers. Your ID number will be hand-entered by the cashier. Hand-entered transactions will access your funds while swiping a deactivated card will not.

Testing Center: The app ID, paper copy ID, and your driver's license are all accepted forms of ID.

Harold B. Lee Library: The app is accepted at the HBLL; the paper ID is not.

To print a paper copy of your ID card:

  • Log in to MyBYU.
  • Select Personal Information from the Communication drop-down menu under Campus Links.
  • Select ID Card.
  • Print - you can print at any Print & Copy Center, such as Cougar Creations (1st floor WSC).

Get a Replacement ID Card:

We recommend that all students, faculty, employees and affiliates replace lost ID cards at the ID Center, 1057 WSC.

We also recommend waiting up to 2 weeks before replacing a lost ID card. Lost cards are often turned in to the ID Center. The ID Center will email you as soon as we receive your card.

Please remember to meet all Dress and Grooming Expectations when replacing an ID card.

Payment: The cost to replace a lost or abused BYU ID card is $10. Our preferred method of payment is Cougar Cash. We also accept cash or check.

If your lost ID card is 2 years old or older, please submit a new photo before visiting for a replacement card.

If your lost ID card is less than 2 years old and you do not submit a new photo before visiting the ID Center, the ID Center may use the same photo. If you request a new photo after the staff have already printed a new card, there will be an additional $10 fee for a card with a new photo.

We can post charges to your Financial Center. We reserve the right to post a $40 late payment charge to your Financial Center if you do not pay the $10 replacement fee within 30 days. We will remove this late fee once you have paid the original $10 fee and sent a "late fee removal" request to idcenter@byu.edu.

Employees and Faculty who receive a lost card replacement at Benefits Services will have the $10 replacement fee posted to their Financial Center. Spouse and Dependent fees will post to the employee's Financial Center.

Expiring ID card replacement is free if the expiring/expired ID card is turned in at the time the new card is produced.

When replacing an ID card due to a name change, beard waiver, card malfunction, or primary role change, the current ID card must be turned in at the time the new card is produced to have the $10 fee waived.

We will accept an old BYU ID card as payment if you turn in the old ID card at the time your new card is produced. We do not issue refunds if you find an old ID card later.

Stolen cards will be replaced at no charge if a report has been filed with any police dept. You must bring the police case number to the ID Center. Patrons falsely reporting a stolen card will be reported to the Honor Code Office.

Transactions made on a stolen card that has not been reported lost or stolen may be the responsibility of the cardholder.

Door Access: When a replacement card is printed, the old card is permanently deactivated. Most doors are programmed to update to your new card automatically every 15 minutes. The MTC doors may take an hour to update. Some doors only update overnight. If you have concerns or trouble with door access, please contact your building access administrator/alarm coordinator. If you do not know who this is, contact Access Services, 801-422-5521, 194 BRWB. For emergency access issues please contact the University Police, 801-422-2222.

Cougar Cash: When a replacement ID card is printed your Cougar Cash and meal plan are immediately available for use with the new card.
